Often times people are confused as to what internships to take to further their career. For a communications degree it is best to try and get an internship with a newspaper, news station, radio, or somewhere that you can get some hands on journalism experience. First of all it is never to early to start looking for an internship even if the application dates are months away. One should always work on getting their resume as best as it can be. Another helpful hint would be to not discard unpaid relationships. Many people think that unpaid internships are the ‘scum’ of internships when they really could be a great learning experience. It is also best to make sure that when your name is typed into Google that the employers will not find anything that would make them not want to hire you. It is best to always be practicing journalism. The field is very competitive therefore a person wanting a job in journalism should always be looking to improve their skills.
